Becoming an Inclusive, Recovery City is a process that takes time. But even small steps, focusing on making recovery visible and celebrating it in the community, by raising public awareness, are steps towards the right direction.
Today, several cities across Europe and further afield have raised their interest to become an Inclusive City - and this is already happening, right here in Middlesbrough.
This informative seminar, featuring international guests and prominent minds from academia, introduces the concept of Inclusive, Recovery Cities, and how to become part of their development.
Guest speakers include:
- PD Ports' CEO Frans Calje
- Dr David Patton
- Dr Ed Day
- Professor David Best
Themes include:
- What is a Recovery City?
- How do you become eligible?
- What is our global charter and partnership?
- Ghent: Case study of a Recovery City
- Middlesbrough: A Recovery City

When locations engage with the idea of Recovery Cities, ingredients and good practices for improving social justice and community engagement are shared. On May 9th, at The Riverside Stadium's Legends Suite, we invite guests to learn about, and become part of the UK's first Recovery City.
